The best Navan alternatives, compared
Navan earns its place when travel is the expense category that matters — bookings become expense records automatically, and travel itself is free below 300 employees. Teams leave it for the opposite reason: if people rarely fly, a travel-first product is overhead, and the $15/user expense tier past the first five users is at the high end of the market.

Before you migrate off Navan
Migrating away from Navan means separating two things it deliberately fused. Decide first whether you still need managed travel at all: if you do, you will be adding a booking tool alongside your new expense system, and the automatic booking-to-expense link disappears — someone has to reconcile trips manually again. Pull your traveller profiles, loyalty numbers and any negotiated rates out before you close the account, because those are painful to rebuild. Check whether unused trip credits or non-refundable bookings sit with Navan; those don't transfer. On the expense side the move is ordinary: export history, re-map your chart of accounts, and re-check that per-diem rules survive, since per-diem handling varies a lot between tools.

Frequently asked questions
- Is Navan worth it if we barely travel?
- Probably not. Navan's distinctive value is that bookings become expenses automatically; without travel volume you are paying $15/user/month past the first five users for expense features you can get for $3–9 elsewhere.
- Which alternative also combines travel and expense?
- Among the tools we hold sourced data for, Zoho Expense's Premium tier ($5/user/month billed annually) adds travel-desk and per-diem features — a lighter, cheaper take than Navan rather than a like-for-like replacement.
